What should I add to the map, and how do I do it?
Add a point to this map that highlights your own meaningful service experience in the United States. National service is a growing movement. Let’s show everyone what is getting done in this country.
To contribute, simply click “Leave a comment” below (on this blog post), and in the entry field write the following:
- A one- or two-sentence description of a meaningful service experience you have taken part in, AND
- The city and state (and street address if applicable) where this service took place, AND
- Your name as you would like it displayed
Please note: Your entry will not be published as a comment – at the end of each day, our blog manager will use your comments to create new points on the map. Check back 24 hours after you submit!
About Service Around the Nation
In 2010 the Corporation for National and Community Service reported that 63.4 million United States citizens volunteered 8.1 billion hours of service to help their communities during the prior year. Service happens every day in schools, community centers, hospitals, parks and on the streets of our cities and towns across the country. Service is provided by the young and old alike, and by people of all ethnicities, beliefs and walks of life.
Friends of City Year are engaged in their communities. Help us build a map that documents the varied and significant ways citizens are involved in making this country a better place to live for everyone.
