City Year Boston Acts of Leadership Youth Conference 2011

On Monday January 17, more than 80 middle and high school students from around Boston traveled to City Year Headquarters on their day off from school to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The “Acts of Leadership Youth Conference”, as the event was titled, empowered students by teaching them that they are able to make a difference in their own community.

The youth participated in corps member-led workshops and were privileged to have the chance to absorb wisdom from civic leaders Richard Cohen and Roscoe Thomas throughout the day.

  1. This looks like it was a really great event. It’s always inspiring to hear and learn from our youth.

On a side note, I met Alex Kogan’s father this evening so it was interesting to see her name in the credits.

    Nice work, Ellie-0.

  2. This was such a beautiful, memorable event! Big ups to the Senior Corps, Nikki White, the middle school students, guest speakers Boston corps and staff for coming together on this service Day On Event!

  3. What an amazing video!

Thank you for sharing the greatness that was this year’s MLK Day. May his legacy live on.
